The Canary Islands received 787,687 visitors last April 2012, a decrease of 15.90% over the same month of 2011,
148,948 fewer passengers, according to data from AENA .
According to the offcials
"this drop in tourist arrivals was predictable given the behavior of the international economy and its impact on the tourism industry. Remember that in April 2011 we saw a 65% increase, due to a combination of factors such as Easter fell in March and April, the diversion of tourists from the Arabian regions and the small bonus that airport charges disappeared"
Over 42,000 less visitors
Aprils visitor numbers to Gran Canaria almost fell below the two hundred thousand mark, recorded at 204,049 , a 17.22% fall from April 2011, 42,455 fewer tourists / passengers.
