Nearly all apartments in Spain are limited to 1.5KW for everything!
For holiday makers this is not normally a problem, but for anyone wishing to live in an apartment and possibly work from home sometimes then this is a significant limitation for some.
This limitation is written into the contract for apartments with UNELCO, the national supplier of electricity.
15 Amp fuses are the maximum permitted fuse for the whole apartment, compared with the U.K. where 13 Amp fuses are fitted to every single plug in a house, apartment or office building.
Effectivly the Spanish domestic situation is equivalnet to everything running off one plug in a U.K apartment.
Houses may have larger capacticites written into the contract with UNELCO, often in the range of 3-5KW for the whole house.
Check the consumption of any equipment you buy and be particularly careful of air conditioning units as these often consume anywhere from 1.5-2.5KW alone. When you add the consumption of a cooker, fridge, electric kettle etc then you are likely to have problems if you are not careful about not using everything at the same time.
