Renting a business premise means that you need to present your costs, your bills, all of the things you pay for at the end of the year so that the tax office can see how much profit you make; taking account your earned income - simple enough.
However we have stacks of evidence that showing that if rent a business you will not be able to claim electricity costs because in many situations it is impossible to get your name put on the electricity bill
In one case we have intermit knowledge of, a local owened by SL registered company
where the electicity bill is in the name of a Trinidad Suizez Father, who has been dead for over eight years.
When those reneting one of Trinidad Siuez business presmises tried to change the name on the bill the electiricty company, Endessa said it could not be changed because the building was too old and that it need an inspection and upgrade before the name on the electticity bill could be changed.
Clearly anyone can see that the name on an electricity bill and the approved standard of wiring in a building are two very different seperate things, but not to the Electricity company in Spain.
This clearly allows a perfect opportunity for the owners of the properties, e.g. any S.L. to claim the the bills from the electricty companies as expenses when in reality they are paid by those renting the premises.
We asked Endessa to comment but have not yet received a reply, however their "rules" clearly pave the way for ample opportunties for corruption and fraudulent expense claims by owners of properties which have not had an approved wiring upgrade in the last 20 years.
If you have any similar stories, and we know there must be hundreds in the same situation drop us a message.
