The expected sharpe rise started around the last ten days of October 2009 in the mainland.
The Statistics show Spain is worst country in Europe as of November 2nd 2009.
Whilst the overal numbers and the Death Rate per Infection reflects fairly low numbers, the percentge is uncomfortably high at 4.75%, clost to the figures of places like Ghana and Tonga!
Mexico now stands at 0.75%, meaing 1 in 133 people die,
in Spain mainland it is more like 1 in 21 die!
This is an extremely high rate and not overly due to visitors to Spain recently.
We do not care to speculate, we are not epidemiologists, however the mainland of Spain is obviously doing something wrong as the differences are way way beyound reasonably expected variations and notions of a Spanish specific variations or sub types would seem to be highly unlikely.

The number of deaths in Gran Canaria still stands at 3 from mid August 2009 with no new deaths attribited to H1N1 in the last 6 weeks
It is only in the course of reseaching this article that we noticed the figures for mainland Spain and so we are publishing a new page which will outweigh this page but we felt the numbers dictated immediate publication
