Our launch of a search engine called Gran Canarias caused a stir on several fronts, including upsetting a few residents in Playa del Ingles who told us it should be Gran Canaria and not Gran Canarias.
And besides what have we got to do with the naming of things here in Playa del Ingles and what influence do we have on the naming of things in other parts of the Canaries?
Señoras y señores
Time for rebranding the Canary Islands.
We each have our preferences, our own lives, our own paths to follow so why not Gran Tenerife, Gran Lanzarote, surely each of these is as true for the residents of Tenerife or Lanzarote as it is true to the residents of Gran Canaria?
Whilst there is only one Britain there are seven Canarias. The word Great is, after all, a description and not the name, it is what Britain was called for a long time, and it still is by a growing number around the world.
So if you see the holiday destination "Gran Tenerife" or "Gran Lanzarote" popping up a little more over 2012 you'll know how to blame, and the Canarians will hopefully know who to thank,
