A new Casino for 2014 opens in Playa del Ingles.
With construction of the roadway and widening of the public walkways the new Casino is located in the centre of Playa del Ingles at the location of the former Hard Rock Cafe.
With electric blue trees and stylish white tables and chairs adorning the outside entrance area the Gran Cansino is located next to the Yumbo Centrum.
New investments in the Casino industry are part of a welcome change as the site of the former hard rock cafe was left a noticeable undeveloped spot in the middle of playa del Ingles for over 9 months.
Planing takes time but the permission can be a slow process even here in this 100% tourism focused mega zone.
The Canary Islands compete hard on the heals of Madrid in Tourism who just lost out to the reported €22 Billion project to create six new casinos in12 Hotels.
The US casino operator Las Vegas Sands pulled out of the project citing no further progress could be made including lifting the smoking ban within the Casino and keeping taxes low.
Both things the Canary Islands are distinctly different regarding; low tax rates and the outside outdoors terrace based lifestyle which coincidentally bypasses smoking restrictions.
Las Vagas Sands have reportedly said it is goinf to concentrate on the far east

Below is the Las Vagas development that Madrid lost out on when the cancellation of the project was announced on Friday December 13th of 2013.
The €22 Billion associated with the project is coincidentally about the same amount as the estimated annual earning of the Canary Islands from Tourism.
